Farscape’s Gigi Edgley to Guest Star in Episode VI

When Episode VI of STAR TREK CONTINUES goes into production, a familiar face will be on board.  “While details of the shoot and the script will be kept under wraps until that episode premieres, we’re very excited to announce that the amazing Gigi Edgley will join the cast as our guest star,” says STAR TREK CONTINUES executive producer Vic Mignogna.

Edgley is the Australian actress probably known best for her role as Chiana on the series Farscape as well as Lara Knight in Rescue: Special Ops.

“I travel the world making productions and doing signings and on my adventures I met Vic. He introduced me to his magnificent show. I played Chiana on Farscape for over five years so over this time I was catapulted into the uncharted territories of Sci-Fi and through this journey I fell in love with everything that exists within it. I have always been fascinated by STAR TREK and how it has influenced and inspired so many people over the years. I feel extremely blessed, humble and smiling to be invited to join forces with STAR TREK CONTINUES,” Gigi said.

She expects Farscape fans to be very interested.  “Over the conventions we all share our love for every kind of possible sci-fi. So often I meet ‘Scapers’ and they constantly suggest cool shows for me to be on. I know they will be completely blown away when they find out.”

Edgley says she has seen all 79 of The Original Series STAR TREK episodes, and she’s very impressed with the work to develop authentic new stories for the Enterprise crew.  “I think STC has done an absolutely magnificent job creating an impeccable vision that fits seamlessly into The Original Series. There are so many multifaceted stories to tell in the STAR TREK universe and STAR TREK CONTINUES is telling them truthfully, respectfully and perfectly,” she says.

In addition to her acting roles, Edgley is also a singer and recording artist.  “I love to sing. I have recorded many songs. At the moment I am actually making some clips to music that came straight from my heart – so stay tuned.”

Another interesting and fun show that featured Gigi Edgley was the SyFy program Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge, last year.

“The show was wonderful,” Edgley says.  “We have all been inspired by the Jim Henson Company throughout our lives. This was the first time we got to see inside Jim Henson's Creature Shop and it was such a delight and magical process. Everyone I meet has longed for it to come back to our screens and so do I. It showed 10 creature designers compete for $50,000 and a year to work full time at Jim Henson's Creature Shop. I adored working with Brian Henson and everyone who was involved with the production. I originally moved back to the States to film series two. I waited for a year here for it to be picked up. When I heard the news (about the cancellation) I was beyond devastated,” Edgley admits.

Edgley also has several other new projects in the works.

“I was approached by Runic Films to become part of ‘Hashtag,’ which is a phenomenal short film that we are taking to Sundance, Cannes and Toronto.  We raised over $44,000 with a crowdfunding campaign.  Yes, I was heartbroken hearing the news that Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge was not going ahead and ‘Hashtag’ was the light at the end of a very dark tunnel for me. It reminded me how much support and love the fans have to give for the very wild and wonderful dreams I have in my heart. I love working for the big studios and networks but I also adore being involved in crowdfunding productions. It is very special to be working with fans, friends and family to make television and films together. Right now I am filming a crowdfunded project called Nexus and it a truly beautiful story that needs to be told about love, courage and believing in your dreams no matter what reality we exist in.

“I am very passionate about the roles that I am blessed to play,” says the actress who has won best supporting actress awards.  MAXIM magazine named Gigi the “sexiest space babe” in 2001.  “I will go to the ends of the earth to discover each character's complexity. I want to tell stories that intrigue, fascinate and enthrall. It is exciting when people recognize and appreciate these delicious characters I get to create,” Edgley says, who also encourages fans to “dream the life, live the dream.”

I just watched STC Episode VI and I wondered who that incredible actress was until I saw the credits roll and I was bowled over. I lover her in FarScape and she has just continued to show her expertise here.

I have been to this place several times. The perfect event starts with an extraordinary location, like these San Francisco event venues. Thanks to my friend for introducing me to this place. I will definitely be coming back.
